A great FREE source of FEDERAL grants online. This won't have state or private foundations and it won't have any tips on HOW to write a winnging proposal but it is a good start for anyone interested in getting money from Uncle Sam...

The Catalogue of Federal Domestic Assistance is another government resource
which gives you access to a database of all Federal programs available to State and local governments (including the District of Columbia). Not as good as FedMoney.org but worth checking out regardless. This site has limited info on DIRECT loans to individuals.
Grant Writing Tips
The US Environmental Protection Agency actually offers a pretty good guide for writing a grant proposal. A must-read for anyone seriously considering getting a government grant.
HUD 203(k) re-hab program
This is an interesting loan program by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development
for obtaining a cheap loan to rehab single family properties.
Business Grants
Small business grants are closer than you think. In fact, the small business grant you need to start or expand your business may be available right in your own home state.
Many state development agencies offer direct small business grants and other types of financial assistance designed to encourage and assist entrepreneurs in starting or expand a small business.
